Job Description: As the primary Counsellor for Problem Gambling and other Process Addictions at Community Addiction Services, under the direct supervision of the Out-of-Scope Manager and the Clinical Supervisor, the Addiction Counsellor Degree is responsible for client service delivery as well as the development, implementation and delivery of all services within Community Addiction Services Adult Community Counseling. Other process addiction may include but are not limited to internet gaming, shopping addiction, sex and pornography addictions. The Addiction Counselor Degree will also provide individual and group counselling. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience

  • 1 year experience working with problem gambling clients and concurrent disorders

Education

  • Bachelor of Chemical Dependency

Other Education and Training

  • Willingness to complete problem gambling training to perform duties of role
  • Training/knowledge in problem gambling and other process addictions preferred
  • Completed social sciences or human services discipline acceptable to employer

  • Knowledge in principles for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Services for Saskatchewan

  • Knowledge in co-current disorders and issues related to gambling addictions
  • Knowledge in education and program development, implementation and evaluation
  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice
  • Knowledge in applying a cognitive-behavioral or other major modes of therapy
  • Knowledge in addictions screening, assessment tools and procedures
  • Knowledge in various counselling modalities
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing
  • Knowledge of the Trans-theoretical Model of Change.
  • Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process
