CE 25-26-10 Literacy & Basic Skills Instructor

Job Duties/Responsibilities and Details:
Instructors Teach English and/or Mathematics, Literacy Multi Levels /Digital
Literacy Qualifications/Responsibilities:
- Post-Secondary education in English, Mathematics and /or Adult Education.
- Minimum 1 - year experience in an LBS Environment preferred.
- Experience/Familiarity using the Employment Ontario Information System - Case Management System (EOIS-CaMS) would be beneficial.
- Training in one or more of the following: adult education, curriculum development, literacy instruction, and/or assessment.
- Experience instructing adults and knowledge of the Employment Ontario network, Second Career, Essential Skills, and the apprenticeship process is an asset.
- Skill and experience working with adult learners with various barriers and learning challenges.
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Labour Immigration and Skills Development (MLITSD) Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF) and
- Excellent Numeracy, English written and oral communication skills
- To be familiar with and have a working knowledge of computer technology and software applications in the classroom.
- Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and / or work environment.
- Develop daily individual multi-level learning activities for each learner in Communications/ Numeracy within various goal paths.
- Work with learners to identify realistic and attainable academic and/or employment and training goals.
- Able to instruct in a classroom and in a virtual setting
- Willingness to deliver the Corrections Literacy Initiative (CLI) to clients in the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre.
- Other duties as assigned.
Location: St. Charles Adult Continuing Education - 770 Main St East Location
Salary: $39.09 - 41.04/hour plus vacation entitlement
