Reporting to: ESL/LINC SUPERVISOR

Description:

Reporting directly to the English as Second Language (ESL) and Literacy Instruction for Newcomers (LINC) Supervisor, the ESL/LINC Literacy Lead is responsible to work one-on-one or in small groups with literacy learners, in consultation with their instructor, to develop attainable goals, individualized learning plans and targeted instruction. The Literacy Lead focuses on teaching learning strategies, reading and writing at a pace and with content that is tailored to literacy learners' needs and goals.

  • Support Classroom Instructors
  • Inform instructors of strategies, materials, and resources to support instruction of literacy learners.
  • Work with the PBLA itinerant Lead to support PBLA program delivery for literacy learners.
  • Maintain inventory of literacy resources
  • Make recommendations for literacy resources, purchasing of literacy resources and professional development.
  • Make recommendations to ESL supervisor for literacy support.
  • Interpret data and provide necessary information requested by LINC Supervisor and /or Ministry
  • Model and encourage exemplary practices among Instructors
  • Maintain logs of appointments and learner progress, through one drive
Qualifications:
  • TESL Ontario Certified (OCELT)
  • Knowledge of Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
  • Knowledge of MS Teams, D2L Learning Management Systems preferred
  • Experience with computer technology and proficient in the use of various software applications
  • Able to instruct/present information in a classroom and virtual setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
  • Ability to work independently with solid time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have reliable means of transportation to travel between locations.
  • Targeted instructional experience and training in ESL Literacy Program Delivery
  • Familiar with the Canadian Centre for Language Benchmarks (CCLB) documents: ESL For ALL and the ESL for ALL Support Kit.
Location: St. Charles sites. The successful candidate will need to have own transportation to travel to all St. Charles' sites.

Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:30 to 3:00 pm

Salary: $44.28 per hour as per Collective Agreement OSSTF (PECW) plus vacation entitlement Last date for consideration: Friday, January 16, 2026 at 4:00 pm
