Description
This position supports therapeutic groups for infants, toddlers, children, youth and their families. This may include, playing with, comforting, providing positive behaviour guidance for and meeting the developmental needs of minors in attendance. The role may also include some collaboration with group leaders, setup and take down of equipment in clinic and in community settings as needed. The College/University student will support youth and parents in their use of virtual platforms for virtual groups.
1. Previous experience and comfort working with infants, children, youth with and/or families of those with special needs is required
2. Flexibility
3. Availability for day and/or evening sessions on weekdays and weekends
4. Ability to safely lift 25 lbs
5. Access to a vehicle an asset (as individuals will be expected to provide childcare in different locations)
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
7. Ability to communicate effectively with families and team members both verbally and written
8. Comfortable using virtual platforms (such as Zoom)
9. May be suitable for students who have had experience (either volunteer or clinical placements) within Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation (Early Childhood Education, Allied Health, Assistant students, Therapeutic Recreation, Psychology)
10. Must be willing to participate in a criminal reference check.
11. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
