Social Worker MSW

The Social Worker is an integral member of the health care team and is involved in all areas of the ICU and Burn Unit. As a member of the health care team, the Social Worker provides direct patient care through the provision of psychosocial screening and assessments; individual and family counseling and treatment; crisis intervention; bereavement counseling;liaison and referral to community agencies; advocacy and discharge planning.

1. Current Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers as a Social
Worker
2. Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work 
3. Recent (within 2 years) critical care experience preferred
4. Knowledge of the Healthcare Consent Act and capacity issues
5. Demonstrated knowledge of child and family community support services
6. Demonstrated skills in the performance of a therapeutic role including strong assessment, counseling, case
management, crisis intervention and advocacy skills
7. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment and to organize, prioritize and problem-solve effectively
8. Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, consultation and teaching skills
9. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning.
