Accountable to the Clinical Manager the RRT supports the assessment, care and management of patients across the lifespan who require respiratory support including invasive and non-invasive ventilation and High flow oxygen therapy.  Responsibilities include advanced neonatal resuscitation and newborn airway management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and ABGS; assisting patients with their pre/post tracheotomy care and needs; liaising with the medical specialists. The RRT will provide respiratory therapy assessments, therapy discharge and care plans. The RRT will be required to attend patient and program meetings as well as communicate with appropriate home care vendors/clients. The Respiratory Therapist will work autonomously, make decisions and apply judgment in their day-to-day work. Acts as resource to the cardio-respiratory department.  As the only Respiratory therapist on site, responsible for supporting all areas, the successful applicant will need to be highly motivated, with excellent clinical decision making, communication, and time management.


Qualifications

1. Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
2. Current General Certificate of Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) and in good standing with College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
3. Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam
4. Experience in respiratory rehabilitation; invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and oxygen therapy.  
5. Recent experience in Adult and Newborn Respiratory Care 
6.  ACLS, NRP and PALS current certification preferred
7. Demonstrated excellence in leadership, communication, organization, team building, and conflict resolution
8. Demonstrated advanced critical thinking, assessment, planning, evaluation & coordination skills in a fast-paced environment
9. Knowledge of and the ability to work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
10. Knowledge and demonstrated competencies in Patient and Family Centered Care
11.Ability and knowledge to access hospital resources
12.Demonstrated excellence in the ability to initiate, model and support change in a constructive manner
13. Demonstrated commitment to continuous education and learning for self and others
