Reporting to the Medical Director, the Physician Assistant (PA) will work under the direct supervision of the Physician. The candidates will support the priorities of Ontario’s Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care by providing access to quality care for patients who require specialized pain management, and by promoting the health and quality of life of acute and chronic pain sufferers. PA patient care duties may include:
• Completing comprehensive and focused health histories
• Performing comprehensive and focused physical examinations
• Performing procedures as determined by MGDPC physicians
• Developing care plans in conjunction with MGDPC physicians
• Providing counseling on health care promotion and preventive health care
• Ordering, following up on, and interpreting laboratory or radiological investigations
• Serving as physician extenders for MGDPC physicians
• Performing controlled acts as delegated by MGDPC physicians

The PAs will assist with the organization and planning of care as well as the operational issues pertaining to ongoing research studies in the division. In an evolving role, the PAs will function as integral members of the inter professional team providing care for these highly complex patients.
Qualifications
1. 2015 Graduate of Ontario Physician Assistant Program
2. Current and valid National Physician Assistant certification
3. Recent (2 years) experience general internal medicine or relevant experience
4. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
5. Demonstrated leadership to promote professional development
6. Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
7. Demonstrated ability for independent action, initiative, problem-solving, organization and prioritization
8. Experience in the development and maintenance of medical devises
9. Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative role with all members of the multidisciplinary team
10. Ability to utilize information technology
11. Demonstrated commitment to patient and family centered care
