Description
The Paramedic Educator assists in the development and implementation of course curriculum for all paramedics within the Regional Base Hospital Program. The Paramedic Educator performs observational ride-outs with paramedics for the purposes of individual professional development, learning, and assessing the systemic efficiency of the regional educational programs. The Paramedic Educator is also responsible to deliver the Annual Practice Review and other CME programs, training to new paramedic employees of the EMS operators, and training for employees returning to clinical practice or require remedial training. In addition, the Paramedic Educator is responsible for the delivery of provincially mandated programs as part of the Regional Training Network.
1. Bachelor Degree from a recognized university in a healthcare or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
2. Graduate of an Advanced Care Paramedic program or Primary Care Paramedic program recognized by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
3. Diploma/certificate in Adult Education from a recognized institution (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
4. Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a paramedic educator
5. Demonstrated knowledge of associated Regulations and Standards related to prehospital emergency care
6. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and required software (i.e. Microsoft Office)
7. Demonstrated experience in adult education teaching principles, preferably in the prehospital care setting
8. Demonstrated experience in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education programs
9. Excellent interpersonal and communication (strong written and verbal) skills, including presentation skills.
10. Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
11. Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize workload and establish priorities
12. Demonstrated proficiency in the mentoring and development of staff and the ability to employ a variety of learning resources and teaching styles
13. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
14. Demonstrated evidence of continuous learning in healthcare or related field
