Medical Lab Assistant

Under supervision and direction the Medical Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of laboratory tasks, which require learned manual skills rather than a technological training, to assist the trained technologists in various sections within the Department of Laboratory Medicine.

1. Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
2. OSMT, MLPAO or CSMLS Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate.
3. Recent (minimum 3 years) experience in the Core Laboratory.
4. Experience in receiving and handling Laboratory Specimens including familiarity with core lab analyzers including sample loading and archiving.
5. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
6. Experience and demonstrated proficiency in blood collection and collection of other body fluids as necessary.
7. Data entry and Order entry skills in EPIC. 
8. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
