Description
Responsible to the Director and Manager of the Infection Prevention and Control Program, the Infection Control Hand Hygiene Coordinator will participate in the mission, vision and goals of Hamilton Health Sciences Infection Control Team by maintaining data Integrity and quality audits through implementing audit tools and QA process to ensure data quality, accuracy and timeliness of statistics.
Hand Hygiene Coordination and data support analysis will be completed through review of data, determination if the information is viable, and if the necessary audits have been completed. The incumbent will provide productivity indicators which are closely monitored by different internal clients such as senior management, clinical and operational committees.
The Hand Hygiene Coordinator will provide in-servicing /education/training for the various disciplines to update/review/understand the importance of hand hygiene in infection prevention and control; develop, work collaboratively with Infection Control Practitioners , Management, Clinical Leaders and Healthcare Providers to identify barriers and develop improvement strategies to reduce healthcare associated infections while ensuring that the statistical process for the collection of data is evaluated/updated and kept to the required standards.
The Hand Hygiene Coordinator will also provide reports on a regular and ad-hoc basis, provide statistical data/quality indicators to all levels of management at HHS, as well as to external clients such as the Ministry of Health. Types of data requests include internal and external statistical and utilization data. The Support Analyst will also provide additional information for various areas in order to determine changes in units/programs.
1. Post Secondary Education required
2. 3 to 5 years experience in a healthcare related field
3. Demonstrated extensive knowledge and ability to interpret and apply Infection Control guidelines related to hand hygiene (i.e. Health Canada, PIDAC, etc.)
4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and database software and data analysis
5. Experience with data and statistical analysis
6. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
7. Proven education and training skills, strong group facilitation skills
8. Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of patient care and confidential information
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
10. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize workload, problem solving skills
11. Self-motivated and a team player, with the capacity to be flexible
12. Ability to develop partnerships with key stakeholders
13. Demonstrated ability to initiate and model positive change
