Genetics Counsellor

As a member of the clinical care team, the genetics counsellor will provide genetic assessment and counselling to patients and families that suffer from a variety of cardiac-related disorders, including inherited arrhythmia syndromes, genetic forms of cardiomyopathy, lipid disorders, aortopathy, and relevant forms of congenital heart disease.

1. Master's Degree in Genetic Counselling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited program
2. Certified (or eligible for certification) by Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CACG) and/or (ABGC) 
3. Relevant work experience in cardiac genetic counselling preferred
4. Demonstrated expertise in interviewing for patient assessment, and providing genetic counselling to patients with cardiac disorders and their families 
5. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team 
6. Demonstrated expertise in organization and time management skills
7. Demonstrated familiarity with the use of genetic related electronic databases and reference resources
8. Demonstrated skills in using computer applications (email, word, excel , Meditech) and with virtual care service delivery though various platforms (OTN, Zoom Healthcare)
