Genetic Assistant

The Genetic Assistant supports patient care in the department by assisting physicians, genetic counsellors and other staff with aspects of triage, clinic flow, case preparation, and case follow up. The Genetic Assistant will obtain patient records, access medical and research literature, track results, coordinate genetic testing for patient and family members, and prepare patient information. 
 

1. Bachelor Degree in related field (i.e. Science, Biology, Genetics) preferred
2. Knowledge of basic genetics essentials
3. Strong organizational skills
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
5. Demonstrated administrative and computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Experience with Electronic health records preferred.
6. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and also collaborative with a multidisciplinary team
