Environmental Aide

Position Summary 

The Environmental Assistant is responsible for the safe transportation of patients, goods and services throughout the hospital. Performs cleaning functions that are repetitive and specialized in nature in patient program areas. Performs project work on a scheduled basis to comply with environmental standards.  Ensure that soiled linens and laundry are collected for processing. Provide support to the clinical team as required to enhance patient focus care.

1. Understanding of infection control and housekeeping standards
2. General understanding of WHMIS and emergency procedures
3. Demonstrated ability to operate specialized cleaning equipment
4. Demonstrated ability to push wheeled equipment safely
5. Demonstrated ability to read, write and comprehend the English language
6. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
7. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
