Dietetic Assistant

The Dietetic Assistant is an integral member of the interprofessional NICU team.  The main focus of this role involves the preparation of breastmilk according to individualized patient care plans and using a computerized milk tracking system.  This includes milk retrieval from and delivery back to individual patients’ bedsides, freezing/thawing of milk, mixing and decanting including prescribed nutritional additives.  The role requires strict adherence to infection prevention practices, aseptic technique, accuracy and attention to detail, interpretation of medical orders and frequent communication with the interprofessional team.

1. Baccalaureate degree in Applied Human Nutrition or other related post secondary education.
2. Minimum of 2 years recent clinical nutrition or food service experience in a healthcare setting.
3. Proficient in computer software programs related to clinical nutrition.
