As a member of the healthcare team, the Business Clerk provides support to patients, families and members of the Healthcare Team. Responsibilities include patient reception, registration, scheduling, statistical data, management, billings, telephone communications, supply and document management and filing. Functions according to the job description for the MGD Adult Chronic Pain Program Business Clerk.


Qualifications

1. Commercial/Business/Secretarial College Diploma/Certificate or equivalent office experience
2. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 acquired in a different Business Clerk position, which may be subject to testing
3. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in Meditech and Community Wide Scheduling - registration, scheduling, material management etc., Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistics. Proficiency with MS office preferred
4. Keyboarding of at least 40 wpm
5. Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
6. Knowledge and skill with office procedures and equipment such as fax, photocopier, label printer, multiple phone lines, computer etc.
7. Demonstrated ability to interact with patients and their families, with patience, courtesy and tact. Ability to demonstrate attributes that contribute to a respectful, caring environment
8. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), documentation, interpersonal, collaboration and teamwork skills
9. Ability to organize work and prioritize tasks in a fast paced multidisciplinary setting
10. Familiar with the CAIS Electronic Prescribing Program
11. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
12. Knowledge of Ontario Exceptional Access Program-preparing and submitting applications
