Reporting to the Manager, Regional Cancer Programs, the Mobile Cancer Screening Coach business clerk books clients for Mobile Cancer Screening Coach appointments, greets and registers clients in the organizations’ medical information system, assists with processing documentation in accordance with Coach standard operating procedures, places orders, assists with file retrieval, assist with processing requisitions, ensures accuracy of the client chart, assist with scheduling and performs other clerical duties as required.  As a member of the mobile team, the business clerk also participates in community engagement activities and acts as an ambassador for the Program.  The business clerk is often the first point of contact and must have well-defined interpersonal and customer service skills for working with diverse and often vulnerable clientele. This position requires travel across the HNHB region, including, but not limited to Hamilton, Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Port Colborne, St. Catharines, Simcoe, Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississauga of the Credit First Nation.


Qualifications

1.       Community College Diploma in Medical Office Administration program or equivalent experience

2.       Minimum 2 years recent and relevant experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment with a minimum 1 year of booking experience

3.       Medical Terminology Certificates I & II or demonstrated knowledge acquired in a different clerical position (subject to testing)

4.       Keyboard of 45 wpm (subject to testing)

5.       Demonstrated proficiency in  EPIC, and other programs as needed

6.       Knowledge of the Ontario Breast Screening Program Integrated Client Management System preferred

7.       Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and other members of the healthcare team, both verbally and written with understanding of privacy and confidentiality policies

8.       Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-demand, fast-paced environment

9.       Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse, multicultural clientele and vulnerable populations.

10.   Demonstrated attention to detail and proven accuracy

11.    Must hold a valid driver’s license and own transportation and willingness to travel to daily locations

12.   Bilingualism is an asset
