Position: Project Manager, Redevelopment

Department: Redevelopment Office

Status: Regular Full-time

Hours: Monday - Friday - 7.5 hour days

Site: Multi-Site, primarily Oakville

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Director of Redevelopment and working with the Redevelopment Office, this position will be responsible for coordination and management of a wide range of projects related to the design and planning of the Corporate Capital Plan (CCP), Georgetown Redevelopment, approved Capital projects, HIRF, and other on-going capital projects within the three hospital sites - Oakville, Milton and Georgetown.

This is what you’ll be doing:

  • Works in a self-directed manner to manage a portfolio of complex corporate wide-projects across varying areas of expertise, as defined within the overall context of the project plan.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and project team to analyze project(s) for needs assessment, system selection and/or process reengineering; Makes recommendations to improve service delivery and the reengineering processes.
  • Manages unusually complex problems and is sought as a resource for resolution of unique or highly complex business problems by providing highly innovative, creative and integrated solutions that will achieve quality and work process improvements.
  • Participation in research of best practices in a variety of areas associated with projects to ensure consideration is given to the current organizational best practices and external innovative, creative, environmentally sound, and cost effective approaches to design and equipment and furnishings.
  • Participate in the monitoring and tracking of all Work Plans and projects; compile appropriate reporting documents and communication of reports.
  • Liaising with stakeholders, consultants, contractors and vendors working on a variety of projects assisting with coordination of activities and representing the Hospital’s perspective to ensure project objectives and outcomes meet the stated requirements
  • Provides strategic leadership and corporate vision to operational and project teams.
  • Functions at and utilizes a high level of autonomy in determining objectives of assignment to achieve desired results, allocating staff resources, delegating assignments, scheduling/prioritizing staff workloads, determining, monitoring and reviewing team goals, performance and expectations.
  • Participates in administrative and corporate responsibilities that support and advance HHS goals.

This is what you’ll need to do it:

  • At minimum, completion of a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, designation in Planning and Design, or equivalent
  • Degree in either Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Urban Planning, Interior Design or other related degree.
  • Must have at least 5 years of project management experience, ranging from small to large complex projects from planning, design to construction.
  • Must have the ability to understand and undertake a wide variety of projects with a broad range of focus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), Fire Codes, National Building Code (NBC), CSA z8000 for provisions of planning/design within guidelines in Healthcare.
  • Experience with Ministry of Health submissions and planning
  • Ability to deiver a project from design - construction, manage consultants and trades
  • Lean/process improvement exposure is desirable.
  • Self-motivated, work independently and integrate well as a member of a variety of teams
  • Flexible and enjoy working in a fast paced environment
  • Experience with reviewing, synthesizing, comparing and summarizing complex tender documents
  • Demonstrated experience managing small ($1M) to large, complex ($50 M +) projects on time and on budget,
  • Liaise with a broad range of individuals from clinical and professional staff to external stakeholders
  • Research skills of best practices for a wide variety of areas related to complex projects. Verbal, written communication and presentation skills essential
  • Interpersonal and conflict management skills and has a positive outlook
  • Organizational, conceptual and strategic thinking skills and abilities
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, database management, project management software, etc.
