Role Objective
The Technical Sales Representative (Ontario) is responsible for driving revenue growth, market penetration, and customer retention by selling commercial equipment directly to contractors, operators, and commercial accounts across Ontario. Combining hands-on mechanical expertise with structured direct sales execution, this role identifies customer needs, delivers live technical job-site demonstrations, closes sales, and builds lasting direct account relationships.
Core Responsibilities
- Direct Sales & Territory Development
- Revenue Ownership: Prospect, negotiate, and close direct machinery sales to roofing contractors, general contractors, and commercial fleets across Ontario.
- Account Management: Build and manage a strong sales pipeline in CRM, guiding prospects from initial outreach through quoting, closing, and post-sale account management.
- Site Application Mapping: Walk active job sites with contractor owners, superintendents, and estimators to evaluate site-specific needs and spec in the right equipment configuration.
- Competitive Closing: Deliver compelling side-by-side technical and economic value comparisons against competitor machinery to win direct business.
- Technical Demonstrations & Field Support
- On-Site Demonstrations: Lead live, technical equipment demos on real job sites to showcase machine performance, labor savings, and operator safety.
- Customer Onboarding: Provide hands-on machine setup and operational training to customer crews upon delivery to ensure smooth implementation and maximum site uptime.
- Technical Support: Serve as the direct point of contact for complex mechanical troubleshooting and service inquiries, ensuring rapid issue resolution and high customer retention.
- Market Intelligence & Strategic Growth
- Ontario Market Coverage: Track regional construction and roofing project pipelines across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Southwestern, and Eastern Ontario.
- Voice of the Customer: Capture direct feedback from site operators and project managers regarding equipment performance, operational pain points, and competitor activity.
- Case Studies & Proof Points: Gather project metrics and success stories from completed jobs to support marketing and future sales proposals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 3–5+ years of direct sales experience in commercial construction equipment, machinery, industrial supplies, or commercial roofing equipment.
- Technical Aptitude: Hands-on mechanical knowledge and the ability to operate, demonstrate, and troubleshoot heavy or specialized job-site equipment.
- Direct Sales Track Record: Proven background in cold prospecting, job-site consultations, contract negotiation, and closing direct deals.
- Territory Travel: Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel routinely across Ontario job sites and customer headquarters.
