Speech Language Pathologist (Therapist)

Division Services Centre

Part Time - 17.5 hours per week

Position: A speech language pathologist is required to work with children/students with diverse learning needs in Pre-K to Grade 12. The successful candidate(s) will work as a member of the Student Learning Services team to support and provide services to children/students with delays in speech, language, and communication.

Duties Commence: August 23, 2024

Qualifications & Duties:

Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.

Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division’s goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.

Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Registered or eligible to be registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Excellent interpersonal/organizational skills.

Experience working with young children and school-aged students with diverse needs and collaborating with team members.

Assessment and program development, including goal development.

Experience with administering standardized and observational speech and language assessments.

High energy level and ability to physically support children in play.

Experience with coaching classroom staff and families in implementing language and communication strategies in meaningful and engaging ways, within everyday routines in an inclusive setting.

Facilitate pre-language and alternative communication skills, including low to high tech alternatives.

Supervision of and planning for Speech Language Pathology Assistants.

Facilitate Professional Development sessions for classroom and District staff.

Experience with creating visuals, including the use of Boardmaker software.

Experience with Social-Emotional Strategies is an asset.
