Payroll Assistant

We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the processing and distribution of unit payroll in a timely manner.
  • Enter data for unit payroll and performs other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Help to process manual and miscellaneous checks as assigned.
  • Help to maintain payroll records, process properly approved payroll and record changes.
  • Answer and/or research payroll inquiries from employees and managers.
  • Daily data entry and/or reconciliation of unit payroll information.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years payroll processing experience in a multi-company, multi-state unionized environment required.
  • Experience with Kronos is preferred.

Job Skills:

  • Ability to plan & organize work schedules, establish workload priorities and perform assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills, interacts well with multiple departments as required
  • Knowledge of employee tax setup based on live/work jurisdictions.
  • Must be proficient with spreadsheets and database query skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Detail-oriented.

Communication Skills:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and disclose data in an accurate manner
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management team and staff.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation or working towards is desired.

Travel:

  • None

Environmental Requirements:

  • Regular office environment
  • This is an in person position (Monday to Friday)
