Detailed Overview
Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health:
Reporting to the Manager, Learning Health Systems & Knowledge Exchange, Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU), the Lead, Knowledge Exchange, MHSU is responsible for supporting and coordinating the strategic dissemination and application of research, best practices and innovations in the Mental Health and Substance Use program. Consults with the MHSU leadership, management team, staff members and patients and clients to ensure effective translation of promising evidence into action for practitioners, decision-makers, and the public. Provides leadership related to knowledge exchange including evidence-informed change management, practice development, and developmental evaluation. The Lead, Knowledge Exchange may be assigned to support time-limited projects in other areas of MHSU services in Fraser Health.
Responsibilities
- Supports the identification, planning and implementation of change initiatives relating to knowledge exchange and education, change management, practice development, research, evaluation, health system support / networks, and specialized knowledge exchange consultation, evaluation and LEAN process knowledge supporting the MHSU vision, mandate, and strategic directions.
- Works collaboratively with MHSU leadership team, management team and regional resources in the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects in support of strategic MHSU programs and initiatives; maintains primary responsibility for overall project management as appropriate and directed.
- Reviews relevant evidence-informed and promising practice literature and consults with clinical leaders and specialists to integrate evidence-informed approaches which support the long-term strategic plan.
- Implements the LEAN principles, where applicable, and develops standards of performance that are based on LEAN process innovation to improve MHSU service delivery utilization and quality.
- Guides the identification, collection, and analysis of relevant information relating to current programs, initiatives and/or projects and synthesizes findings to put forward recommendations to the MHSU leadership team for development, implementation, analysis, dissemination of findings, and policy/practice implications.
- Develops and implements communication plans to ensure timely updates are provided to all internal stakeholders.
- Develops and manages content for knowledge exchange systems or platforms.
- Disseminates information and knowledge products, in consultation with the Leader, related to projects, key programs and initiatives under the identified mandate areas through a variety of vehicles.
- Provides updates and/or presentations on change initiatives to internal stakeholders, and when relevant and approved, to external agencies, organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Participates in various committees, working groups, and research and practice networks involving a variety of internal and external stakeholder groups to support the implementation of projects.
- Actively contributes to the development and maintenance of relationships with other Health Authorities, health related community-based organizations, university research networks, communication and knowledge exchange units, the private sector, and other key players to explore and pursue further research, practice, and knowledge exchange opportunities.
- Assists in coordinating regional planning exercises to ensure development of comprehensive and integrated regional strategies and specialized services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Health, Social Sciences, or Education. A minimum of five (5) years in a knowledge exchange, project planning or management role in a health, social services, government, or community organization.

Professional/Technical Capabilities:
- Knowledge of mental health and substance use research and clinical practices; health systems and policy; population health, prevention, and health promotion; knowledge exchange; developmental evaluation.
- Understanding of and demonstrated skills in several key areas, including: project management; change management; organizational behaviour; research and evaluation; relevant computer software applications; funding structures and application processes; training and education; policy review and analysis; curriculum development, educational design, teaching and facilitation; community development activities and partnerships.
- Related experience in: conducting literature searches and reviews, evidence-informed practice reviews, policy analysis, working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholder groups; and providing curriculum planning and design, training and education activities.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
