Our Division & Communities

Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.

FSD is located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy and the first peoples of southern Alberta including the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuut’ina, and Stoney Nakoda First Nations. This land is also the proud home to the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3. FSD stretches from the city of Calgary's southern border and east of Kananaskis Country in Foothills County.

The Role

Forming part of Round 3 of the staffing cycle for the 2023/2024 school year, we welcome all interested candidates to apply.

This successful candidate has to be able to provide instruction to ensure safety and proper use of a variety of power tools and equipment while complete projects. Candidate will teach junior high students who are experiencing this program for the first time and very experienced students in senior high.

The Candidate

As a member of a highly motivated team and student-centered educator, you are prepared to collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community.?Your teaching practice includes the ability to design and plan learning activities that transfer, and develop thinking competencies. Further, your practice assesses individual student variables to inform the design of meaningful and experiential learning opportunities and effective assessment practice.

Your ability to foster effective professional relationships with student, families, staff and community is critical. You demonstrate a willingness to engage in extra-curricular activities and support students in the whole school experience that characterizes effective schools.?Your capacity to integrate technologies and and support experiential learning that connects students to community resources within Maker-centered learning, CTF and CTS learning environments is evident.
