Background: Flemingdon Health Centre (FHC) is an engaged and involved member of some of Toronto’s most dynamic neighborhoods; Flemingdon Park, Fairview and Thorncliffe Park. FHC is a registered charity and an incorporated not-for-profit Community Health Centre (CHC), with a vision of Strong Healthy Communities. Across our three sites, we provide a range of health-related services based on the social determinants of health with extensive community engagement.

We are excited to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program, offering meaningful paid summer job opportunities for candidates to gain valuable work experience in the healthcare and community services sector.

As a Canada Summer Program participant, you will support a variety of projects and day-to-day operations across several teams. These roles offer students hands-on exposure to real-world tasks in a collaborative, professional, and community-focused environment. This summer, we are hiring 1 to 2 students in the teams listed below. Please let us know in your cover letter which team you’re applying for.

Digital Support Team: If you have experience or are a student in a program in Health Informatics, this is the summer job for you. You would get to support DS initiatives, support and be involved with digital tools, learn about data privacy and how healthcare information systems work.

Population Health & Wellness: Get involved in programs that support youth and help prevent violence in the community. Help plan and run workshops, events and outreach activities & build experience working directly with community members & partners.

Health Access Thornclliffe Park (HATP): Support community health programs that improve access to care for diverse populations, help organize events, workshops, and communications. Gain experience in community outreach and support.

Primary Care Teams: Work alongside healthcare professionals and learn how a primary care clinic operates. Provide administrative support, assist with patient coordination, data entry and creating educational materials.

Operations Team: Are you interested in joining the accounting team? The facilities team? and overall learn how the backbone team (Accounting, IT, Human Resources, Digital Support) operates a Community Health Centre.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in social services, health, administration, accounting, health informatics or a related field (preferred)
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to a team setting
  • Respectful, adaptable, and compassionate approach to working with diverse communities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Eligibility – Canada Summer Jobs Criteria:

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have official refugee status in Canada
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • International students are not eligible
