Job Description:

Candidates must be eligible for Reliability Status Clearance, which requires that they have lived and worked in Canada for the past 5 consecutive years. No exceptions, please.

The role:

  • The Site Reliability Analyst (SRA) works to ensure applications and infrastructure are stable and performing optimally. The SRA uses engineering principles to constantly find ways to improve systems and services.
  • The role understands how systems relate and puts in place monitors to identify optimization opportunities and improve productivity through automation. Using various tools, the SRA will limit operational work, provide data to prevent incidents, and take proactive actions to prevent outages.
  • Working in an agile environment, intellectual curiosity, problem solving, collaboration, and valuing diversity are key to success. The role requires 24x7 support due to global services.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on monitoring tools, dashboards and reports.
  • Analyze metrics, identify trends and address risks to reliability.
  • Partner with IT teams on operational execution and technology needs
  • Create knowledge documents focused on usability, accuracy and content.
  • Participate in industry developments and training, and contribute to strategic roadmap.

What you need to succeed:

  • Computer science, IT, or related degree or 2+ years relevant experience
  • 2+ years supporting technology operations.
  • 2+ years experience with all stages of system development
  • 2+ years experience with ITIL, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies
  • ITIL, Scrum, and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience analyzing and presenting data using business analysis and business intelligence tools to create reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with Splunk or similar software for exploring big data.
  • Experience with tools like Broadcom Monitoring Suite for operational monitoring and performance management.
  • Experience with automating repeatable tasks (using Ansible, scripting language)

Preferred skills:

  • Strong communication, organization, and strategic thinking skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to workplace ethics, diversity, and harassment issues.
  • Collaboration skills and experience as a self-starter, strategic thinker, negotiator, and consensus builder
  • Experience with Splunk and Broadcom DXI suite

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
