The opportunity
We are the in-house Creative Studio at Sun Life. We believe that financial security and health shouldn't be complicated or cold-it should be human, accessible, and empowering.

We’re looking for a Bilingual Marketing and Advertising Copywriter to join our team in support of our Distribution Network for Retail Advice and Solutions. We don’t just need someone to write "catchy" headlines; we need a digital native who understands how to build a narrative across the entire marketing funnel. You will be the bridge between our brand voice and our performance data, creating work that connects authentically with Canadians while driving measurable results.


Who you are
You are a curious and bilingual writer who understands that a Reddit ad needs a different tone than a LinkedIn post. You know that "Awareness" copy needs to inspire, while "Consideration" copy needs to be helpful and direct. You thrive on the challenge of taking complex financial topics and making them feel simple, human and optimistic - in our unique and appealing brand voice. You are comfortable working with a brief, but you aren't an order taker. You look at the strategy and ask, “Why are we doing this?”, “What are the expected outcomes?”, and "How can we make this perform even better?" before you type a single word.


What you’ll do

  • Full-funnel storytelling: Write strategic copy for every stage of the customer journey. You will craft high-level brand awareness assets, consideration-phase educational content, and conversion-focused retargeting ads.
  • Platform-specific execution: Create bespoke ad copy for a variety of digital channels including Paid Meta, YouTube, Pinterest, and Reddit. You understand the nuances of these platforms and know how to tailor your copy to each one.
  • Adapt, consult and customize messaging and tone to suit the needs and expectations of consumers in regions across Canada - in English and in French.
  • Strategic collaboration: Partner with Managers and our Creative Director to review briefs. You will provide creative input on the strategy, suggesting different angles or hooks based on your knowledge of digital best practices.
  • Creativity within a highly regulated industry: Work closely with multiple partners and stakeholders. You see regulation not as a roadblock, but as a creative puzzle to solve, ensuring our work is compliant while remaining human, relatable and engaging.
  • Data-driven iteration: Collaborate with designers to produce creative variations for A/B testing. You use performance data to refine your headlines and CTAs, constantly optimizing better engagement and conversion. Integrated campaigns: Ensure a consistent Sun Life voice across all touchpoints, seamlessly connecting our digital performance assets with broader OOH (Out of Home) and brand campaigns.


What you bring

  • 3-5+ years of experience in digital copywriting, preferably within an agency or an in-house creative team.
  • A digital mindset: You have a portfolio that showcases more than just print or TV. You can show us examples of how you tailored a message specifically for social, display, and video placements.
  • Funnel fluency: You can clearly explain the difference in writing techniques for cold audiences (Awareness) versus warm audiences (Retargeting).
  • Human-centric writing: You have a knack for stripping away jargon. You write like a person speaking to another person: authentic, empathetic, and clear.
  • Bilingual (EN / FR)
  • Understanding of the Quebec market specificities.
  • Understanding of SEO principles, LLM and metrics for digital content.
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
