We are seeking an accounting professional for a hybrid position based in the West Island of Montreal, within a cooperative organization that supports and empowers northern communities in their economic development. Reporting to the manager, you will play a key role in providing accounting and financial support to cooperative members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and the Quebec Cooperative Act.

  • Produce various financial reports based on management needs.

  • Travel to cooperatives to present annual financial statements to boards of directors and recommend member distributions.

  • Analyze general ledger accounts and perform necessary adjustments.

  • Prepare year-end documentation for external auditors.

  • Provide accounting support to cooperative teams and contribute to training program development.

  • Conduct financial analyses (ratios, variances vs. budgets and prior-year results).

  • Occasionally assist general managers with operational management tasks.

  • Supervise and participate in physical inventories at stores and warehouses.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new accounting procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting procedures and report any irregularities.

  • Travel occasionally to cooperatives to provide on-site accounting assistance.

  • Perform other related duties as required to support cooperatives and their teams.

Profile Sought

  • University degree in Accounting.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both French and English to interact with anglophone stakeholders.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and rigorous.
