Job Description
A Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) RN works as a learner under preceptor supervision for at least 140-450 hours, demonstrating nursing knowledge, skill, judgment, and CNO competencies. This Ontario program helps internationally educated or returning nurses meet requirements, involving patient assessment, medication administration, care planning, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities and Details:
Supervised Practice: Performs nursing duties under the guidance of a designated preceptor to safely apply knowledge.
Clinical Care: Completes physical assessments, implements nursing interventions, administers medications, and provides patient-centered care.
Documentation & Evaluation: Completes learning plans, as well as mid-term and final evaluations to demonstrate competence.
Collaboration: Works closely with the healthcare team to align with CNO entry-to-practice standards.
Safety & Ethics: Maintains confidentiality and follows all hospital/facility policies and safety guidelines.
Duration: A minimum of 140 hours to 450 hours, depending on program requirements.
Qualifications:
Eligible for the SPEP program as determined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Registered Nurse (RN) applicant.
Must demonstrate English or French language proficiency.
Ability to work varied shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends).
