Job Title

Activity Aide/Programmer

Qualifications

Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or enrolled in same.

Technical Competencies

Complaint Resolution, Public Relations, Long Term Care Industry, CQI Principles, Project Management Principles, Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Facilitation Skills.

Experience

  • Relevant experience preferably in a long-term care setting; and adult day centers.
  • Experience in assessing activation needs, development, implementation and evaluation of activation programs.

Occupational Health and Safety Accountabilities

  • Participate in all required occupational health and safety training;
  • Use appropriate equipment and wear personal protective equipment or clothing, as required by Extendicare/ParaMed;
  • Report any known or identified health and safety hazards or violations to their supervisor; and
  • Refrain from any conduct that puts themselves, workers, contractors or others at risk.

  • Respects and preserves the privacy, confidentiality and security of health care and employee information at all times. Violations of this statement include, but are not limited to:
