Qualifications:
- Preferred to have completed or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker training program at an established college or a registered private career college in the applicable province; or
- Preferred Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food nutrition;
- Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift
- Must have knowledge of WHMIS
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Complies with all provincial/long term care regulations and established dietary department policies and procedures
- Assists in the preparation and service of beverages, meal items, vegetables, nourishment items, salads, desserts and catering as assigned
- Follows proper food handling techniques
- Maintains cleanliness of floors in the food preparation, dish room and storage areas
- Sets and cleans dining tables and trays
- Assists in dish and pan washing, storage, and cleaning duties
- Delivers dietary carts to designated areas/washes dirty dishes for home area
- Participates actively in special occasion and theme meal days
- Assists in the orientation and training of new dietary employees
- Follows and complies with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures
- Ensure resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted
- Is aware of appropriate steps to follow when a Resident refuses therapeutic diet/texture
- Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it
- Will communicate with the members of the interdisciplinary team in a manner which ensures that client privacy and confidentiality is respected.
