This is a non-union positionOur Payroll team is searching for a Specialist to handle payroll projects and events that require in-depth and broad US payroll knowledge and expertise. You will deliver excellent customer service by providing timely responses and clarity for US payroll enquirers related to processes and events covered by CBA, legislation, individual employment contracts, and corporate procedures.

Note: This is a 12-month, temporary role.
What You Will Do:
Payroll and Time SME on all projects and initiatives such as acquisitions, reorganizations Finance Unify, Workday bi-annual releases etc. Including Payroll configuration testing
Investigate and analyze sophisticated US payroll matters and make recommendations for resolution, plus provide ongoing knowledge transfer and mentorship to all Payroll Team members
Responsible for analyzing and interpreting tax laws and regulations, and applying them to USA Payroll
In depth review of transactions related to acquisitions, mergers, reorganizations and the impact on the Payroll technology set up
Efficiently support US Payroll Tax Analyst, Payroll Analysts and US Payroll Account Analyst. Account management for all TAX agencies (State and Federal, WCB, SUI), ADP Enbridge representative for Taxes, Garnishments, service fees
Responsible for setup of all Tax/State, WCB accounts as required with the agencies as well as with ADP.
Review, processing and entry of complex event and functional processing (i.e. death of employee, cross border, expats, hypothetical shadow payroll tax, bonuses, Solium administration, relocation payments)
Contribute to ensure the highest efficiency, confidentiality and privacy in US Payroll Management.
Who You Are:
You possess a University Business degree or technical diploma in a related field.
6+ years progressive payroll experience in a fast-paced and ever-shifting “service environment” involving a complex union / non-union working environment, plus covering multi-state organizational entities.
US CPP or FPC designation; solid understanding of Workday US payroll. Experience working with a third party payroll provider, ADP preferred.
Expertise and knowledge of sophisticated compliance and HR requirements, including international assignments (expatriates and in patriates), tax equalization, relocation, stock options, taxable benefits, etc.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work optimally with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Ever-changing environment, coupled with competing priorities, which requires flexibility and multi-tasking.
Stringent deadlines for processing payrolls, meeting reporting deadlines to ensure payroll obligations are met and providing reporting information promptly to both internal and external collaborators.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy required - no room for error due to high-risk exposure
Physical requirements:
Include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, prioritize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, coordinate and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
