Would you like to be an integral part of the month-end close process for the Gas Distribution & Storage Cost of Gas ? As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of the Company’s gas supplies purchases. You will initiate, coordinate and work with various functional groups in Finance as well as Regulatory and Energy Service. The role is critical to the Cost of Gas team.

*Note: There are 2 positions available for this temporary assignment with an expected duration of approximately 12 to 18 months.

*Internally this role is known as Advisor Cost of Gas

What You Will Do:
  • Preparation of month-end closing journal entries.

  • Preparation of monthly accounts reconciliations and balance sheet analysis.

  • Preparation of quarterly RRR schedules.

  • Assist with maintaining, updating and documenting internal control policies and procedures within the Finance Department.

  • Ensure adherence to the Gas Cost key and non-key SOX controls.

  • Work directly with internal, external, and SOX auditors during reviews and the quarterly/annual audit engagements.

  • Liaises directly with Capacity Planning and Gas Management Services (GMS) to prepare and analyze the annual Budget and Forecast for compressor fuel, and customer supplied fuel.

  • Provides support to the various regulatory proceeding including the annual Earning Sharing Mechanism application, Federal Carbon related proceedings, as well as the rebasing application, including evidence preparation, drafting interrogatory responses, supporting deferral dispositions and ad-hoc Regulatory requests for support.

Who You Are:Required:
  • University Degree (Business or Accounting preferred).

  • 4+ years of proven experience in finance and/or accounting or other relevant experience

  • Analytical and problem-solving approach.

  • A great teammate with the ability to communicate (written & verbal) technical topics to non-technical audiences, complimented with skills to influence.

  • Ability to work independently, coordinate work, set priorities, and meet deadlines, while keeping colleagues advised.

  • Proven track record of using technology to drive efficiencies and operational improvement.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Willing to work under pressure and some overtime to meet tight deadlines.

Preferred:
  • Experience and knowledge of SAP, Oracle, and EPBCS.

  • Knowledge of SAP ERP, SAP CIS, BPC, and Oracle is preferred.

  • Previous Experience working with tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Access.

  • Accounting Designation or Relevant Post-graduate Degree.

Working Conditions:
  • Office Environment

  • Minimal travel may be required

  • Working overtime during month end close, including working weekends during compressed month/quarter end close cycles
