The location in Port Melon, BC is seeking talent to fill the position of Tanguay Operator. This job is full-time permanent.
Education and Experience:
- While formal education isn’t always required, having a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a chip plant and operating Tanguay loader
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as Tanguay, Operate Forklifts, Telehandlers and Scissor Lifts.
- Knowledge of different log species.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license is highly preferred.
- Valid first aid level 3 certificate or willingness to be put through the course will be given priority in hiring process.
Additional Requirements:
- Conduct pre-job equipment inspection
- Safely operate Tanguay loader.
- Load logs onto infeed deck
- Safely work with utility men and splitter operator to process oversize logs
- Daily maintenance of machine, grease joints, checks for cracks, replace or assist in replacement of hydraulic hoses.
- Assist in breaking open of bundles and log sorting
- Remove bundle wire ropes and stack appropriately
- Clear log deck and conveyor jam ups.
- General housekeeping in the plant such as keep work area clean and free of debris
- Other duties as assigned
- All other duties requested by management.
Candidates must have a positive work ethic and the ability to work and communicate successfully in a team environment, with minimal supervision. Adaptability to various work assignments and changing conditions is essential. We are seeking responsible individuals, with a commitment to workplace safety and quality.
The hourly rate for this position is $40.46
