We are seeking an experienced Product development Project Manager to lead the development of advanced optical fiber technologies. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise in optical fiber design and simulation with strong project management skills to drive research and development activities from concept through prototype and process transfer.

The role will focus on the design, modeling, optimization, and development of novel specialty optical fibers while coordinating multidisciplinary teams involved in fiber fabrication, characterization, and manufacturing process development.

  • Design and optimize state of the art specialty optical fibers for divers’ sectors and application
  • Perform numerical modeling and simulation of optical fiber structures and light propagation
  • Conduct tests directly on optical fiber production equipment and fiber characterisation
  • Analyze fiber characteristics including attenuation, dispersion, birefringence, mode-field distribution, nonlinear effects, and polarization properties
  • Provide customer support and technical assistance as request from clients and partners
  • Develop innovative fiber architectures to meet performance requirements
  • Interpret simulation results and translate them into practical fiber designs
  • Lead the development of novel specialty fibers
  • Participate actively in fiber fabrication and process development activities
  • Collaborate with process engineers to optimize preform manufacturing, fiber drawing, coating, and post-processing operations
  • Establish design-to-manufacturing methodologies
  • Analyze process data and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support scale-up from laboratory prototypes to industrial production
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends in fiber optics and photonics
  • Contribute to intellectual property generation, patents, scientific publications, and technology roadmaps
  • Define project objectives, schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements
  • Coordinate activities among design, simulation, process engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of technical objectives.
  • Prepare technical reports, project reviews, and presentations for management and stakeholders.

We are looking for a candidate with the following profile:

  • D degree in Optical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • At least five (5) years of experience in research and development related to design, simulation, development and cleanroom operations
  • Knowledge of fiber characterization tools and techniques for performance evaluation
  • Attention to detail, rigorous, organized, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Creativity and a commitment to excellence
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a focus on developing innovative solutions;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in English
  • Essential to knowledge on software simulation tools such as Matlab and Comsol
  • Desired to have knowledge on the design, fabrication, and characterization of microstructure, and hollow-core silica optical fiber technology
  • Desired to have knowledge on various materials analysis techniques (TGA, TMA, EDX, SEM, XRD, Raman, etc.)
  • Knowledge of guided/coupled optics and free-space propagation of light beams
  • Design and development of equipment for experimental operations
  • Experience with MCVD-type production tools (desirable)
  • Demonstrated autonomy, resourcefulness, and initiative
  • Willingness to travel and attend training abroad
  • Ability to perform manual labor
