Field of Activities
Under the authority of the Mohawk Council of Kanesatake and in collaboration with the Kanehsatà:ke Education Center. Under the direct supervision of the Special Education Coordinator, the Occupational Therapist encompasses, in particular, responsibility for screening and evaluating the functional skills of students experiencing physical, psychomotor difficulties and developing and implementing an occupational therapy treatment and intervention plan for students so as to develop, restore or maintain their skills, compensate for their disabilities, minimize handicap situations and adapt their environment to foster their optimal autonomy and help students pursue their educational path.

Prerequisites
1. Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
2. Be a member in good standing of the OEQ (Ordre des Ergotherapeutes du Quebec)
3. Capable of keeping up with the demands of working with young children and adolescents.
4. Ability to work independently and in a team setting
5. Demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills
6. To be able to collaborate with others to effectively serve all clients
7. Be able to work in English; French and Mohawk are an asset.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality
9. Expertise in the use and interpretation of assessment tools used to evaluate students with special needs.
10. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and competence in conflict resolution
11. Excellent team building and organization skills instead
12. Knowledge of Kanien’keha:ka people, culture and history would be beneficial.
13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Kanien’keha and French are considered an asset.
14. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle. 15. Crisis prevention, CPR is an asset or willingness to take courses

Salary:
According to the Quebec Treasury Board Salary Scales
Start Date: August 2024
Probation Period: The successful candidate will be subjected to a six (6) month probation period. Following the probation period, a performance evaluation will be conducted and upon successful completion, a confirmation of employment will be provided.
