We are seeking applications to fill positions for Summer Camp Counsellors for the Summer Literacy Camp, offered by the Kahnawake Education Center in partnership with the First Nations Education Council (FNEC).
This literacy and wellness camp aims to promote a love of reading and learning, as well as increased self-confidence of children between the ages of 5 and 9 years old. Requirements: All candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all the following

requirements:
Be at least 16 years old, mature, punctual, responsible, and able to work with little supervision. Enjoy working with children and youth. Previous experience is a bonus. Be familiar with local organizations and activities in the community. Be familiar with local leaders, elders, culture and traditions.

Job Responsibilities: Successful candidates will work together with other camp counsellors to run the summer reading camp in the community. Together, they will organize and run various learning activities such as reading, writing, storytelling, arts, crafts, songs, music, games, and in-town trips such as the Splash Pad, etc. There will be some administrative work involved.

Start & End Date: July 2 – August 2, 2024

Terms of Employment:
Title: Literacy Camp Counsellor Term: Approximately 5 weeks - 30 hours a week Monday to Thursday 8:30-3:00 & Friday 8:30-12:30
Deadline to Apply: May 24, 2024 @ 4:00 P.M.

1 High School Student – Level B @ $15.75 hour
1 CEGEP Student – Level C @ $16.50 per hour
1 University Student Level D - @ $17.25 per hour
Camp Preparation & Training: July 2 – July 5, 2024
Camp Dates: July 8 – August 2, 2023
Closure and Clean Up of Camp: August 2 (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
