SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
A person who is in charge of one or more programmes or projects for the purpose of providing professional assistance in the development of services, in particular by advising, monitoring or supporting various actors in one or more programmes or projects.
It carries out the research activities necessary for the identification and evaluation of resources and needs. It designs and proposes development plans and programmes to ensure adequate planning of services. She advises on the implementation or improvement of programs and/or services. It may participate in various teaching and training activities.
SPECIFIC MANDATE
The CBHSSJB Research Office is seeking a Knowledge Translation & Exchange (KTE) Specialist to lead the development and implementation of a structured KTE process. This role is central to strengthening the link between research, practice, and policy, ensuring that research findings are meaningful, accessible, and actionable for Cree communities, practitioners, and decision-makers.
Working collaboratively with researchers, community partners, and internal teams, the KTE Specialist will design tools and systems that embed knowledge sharing throughout the research lifecycle and support culturally appropriate, transparent, and impactful dissemination of findings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and Implement a KTE Framework
• Design a comprehensive KTE framework, including templates, job aids, and practical tools to guide researchers in developing effective KTE strategies.
• Ensure the framework supports researchers in understanding CBHSSJB KTE expectations at every stage of the research lifecycle.
• Establish clear processes that promote timely and transparent communication between research teams and key partners, particularly during project initiation.
• Develop mechanisms to ensure research findings and end-of-project outputs are disseminated to appropriate audiences (e.g., intranet, newsletters, listservs, clinical groups, community partners).
• Create systems for tracking KTE deliverables in alignment with Research Agreements, ensuring all outputs (scientific and plain-language reports, presentations, etc.) are stored and accessible.
2. Support Knowledge Sharing Activities and Continuous Improvement
• Coordinate and support the organization of knowledge-sharing events such as webinars, workshops, and community meetings.
• Work closely with the CBHSSJB Communications Department to support the development of culturally relevant and accessible KTE products.
• Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness and impact of KTE activities, including:
o Project-specific metrics aligned with individual KTE plans
o Organization-wide indicators to measure the success of Research Office KTE initiatives
o Identify opportunities to leverage past research findings to inform programs, clinical practices, and policy development within CBHSSJB and partner communities.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in public health, social sciences, Indigenous studies, communications, or a related field (graduate degree considered an asset).
Demonstrated experience in knowledge translation, research coordination, or community-based research.
Strong understanding of Indigenous research principles, community engagement, and culturally appropriate knowledge-sharing approaches.
Experience developing frameworks, tools, or evaluation strategies.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research into accessible formats for diverse audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
ASSETS
Experience working with Indigenous organizations or communities, particularly in Northern or Cree contexts.
Knowledge of research ethics and governance in Indigenous contexts.
LANGUAGE
• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree is an asset.
