Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Building Manager, Facility Service Operations, the Facility Operations Supervisor oversees the day-to-day physical and mechanical operations across the City of Mississauga’s corporate facilities portfolio, including Mississauga City Hall, Living Arts Centre, Central Library, Celebration Square, Ontario Court of Justice, and other key sites. This role ensures efficient, safe, and reliable building operations, coordinating maintenance, mechanical systems, and facility services to support organizational objectives and provide exceptional experiences for staff and the public.

The successfull candidate will need to report to office on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Skilled in managing repairs, preventative maintenance, and upkeep of facilities, equipment, and building systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Experienced in leading and participating in divisional and cross-functional projects, setting priorities, and driving team initiatives.
  • Proficient in preparing and managing both current and capital budgets in collaboration with management, vendors, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and teams, resolving escalated work issues and coordinating effectively with city departments.
  • Oversees Building Service Technicians (BSTs), ensuring compliance with health and safety practices and quality standards.
  • Monitors service requests, prioritizes work, and ensures timely completion of tasks.
  • Liaises with tenants, internal departments, and external stakeholders to maintain smooth operations and high levels of service.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized university or college in a trade related to facility management and operations (or equivalent), with a minimum of 5 years of experience in building operations-or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical skills related to facility operations, maintenance, and repairs. Proficient in mechanical and electrical systems, building automation systems, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership, and team-building skills; ability to mentor and guide staff effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships, foster collaboration, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Experience with SAP (Time and Labour, Financial Reporting) and familiarity with Infor is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and shifts as needed to meet operational and community needs.
  • Availability for 24/7 on-call support for emergencies and the ability to handle legislative and policy-related issues.
  • Valid G license with access to a personal vehicle.
  • Experience managing multi-component facilities and navigating legal agreements.

  • Ability to lift light supplies/materials and comfortably work with computer keyboards and screens.
  • Proven track record of sound judgment, tact in public forums, and excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Hourly Rate/Salary: 89,464 - 119,286
Hours of Work: 35 this position is required to report into the office 5 days a week at the Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga
Work Location: Civic Centre 300 City Centre Drive. The successfull candiate will report into the office on a daily basis
