If you enjoy "boots on the ground" municipal construction and the adminstration of site development, then the Development Construction Coordinator is an opportunity for you to be part of a team of engaging, enthusiastic and dedicated people overseeing the changing landscape of the City. Working with the City means that you are a part of something special and a member of the Development Engineering & Construction team with talented and motivated people.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Development Construction, this position will:
- Lead and/or coordinate and provide functional guidance to a team of Technologists in their review of engineering consultant’s grading and drainage designs for adherence to the City’s development requirements and specifications associated with infill residential, commercial/industrial, swimming pools and related development agreements
- Lead and/or coordinate with engineering consultants, Ontario land surveyors and property owners to resolve discrepancies related to grading, municipal services protection and municipal infrastructure construction;
- Lead and/or coordinate the administration of development related agreements entered into between the City, Region and outside developers for new/replacement municipal infrastructure related to development, from construction commencement until final acceptance/assumption
- Lead and/or coordinate site inspections, including providing inspection comments related to infill residential, commercial/industrial and related development agreements;
- Lead and/or coordinate the review and comments associated with Construction Management Plans related to site construction and Road Occupancy Permits;
- Review as constructed engineering drawings associated with security reduction requests;
- Conduct post-construction site inspections to ensure as-built compliance with approved plans and establish security release requirements;
- Liaises with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in various City departments to ensure all City requirements have been met prior to accepting/assuming infrastructure and releasing securities;
- Assist Supervisor in preparing reports to Council regarding the assumption of municipal infrastructure;
- Assist with developing and updating policies, procedures and technical standards for development construction related requirements;
- Participate and represent Development Engineering & Construction as a working team member on external and multi-departmental initiatives;
- Respond to requests for information from members of Council, other departments, the public, outside agencies, etc.;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Post secondary graduate from a recognized university with a degree in Civil Engineering program and registration as a registered P. Eng. Designation in good standing with PEO (or eligibility), or a post-secondary graduate from a recognized College in Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline with a Certified Engineering Technologist designation from OACETT(or eligibility);
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the municipal engineering field with related construction experience in municipal servicing, road construction and land development;
- Good understanding of engineering requirements, including knowledge of Province of Ontario statues, regulations and guidelines such as the Planning and Municipal Acts, as well as the Ontario Health & Safety Act as it pertains to the construction industry;
- Demonstrated ability to share knowledge and work in a cooperative and team-oriented environment;
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions within scope of position;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with internal staff, members of the public, and members of external agencies and professionals in the building and development industry;
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and engineering reports and documents;
- Proven time management, administrative skills with an aptitude for details, organizational and analytical skills;
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office and sound file management is essential; with knowledge and/or experience of Max, ePlans, and Infor an asset;
- Must have the ability to travel and provide own transportation in order to conduct site visits or attend meetings is multiple locations, as required.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 89,464.00 - $ 119,286.00
