Job Summary

Are you passionate about history, nature and the arts? Are you interested in building a career in the museum sector? Consider joining the Museum's of Mississauga's education team for a fun-filled and rewarding experience as a Summer Camp Counsellor at the Bradley Museum.

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing instruction and supervision for all museum camp related activities as indicated by program outlines and to provide a safe and fun environment that meets the needs of all participants.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive, inclusive museum camp program to meet the needs of all participants ensuring that the HIGH FIVE Principles and Design Guidelines are met as well as meeting the Course Objectives as outlined in the Core Plans.
  • Ensure supervision of campers at all times and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants by adhering to department safety standards and assisting with emergency procedures as required.
  • Support objectives and goals of all museum camp programs through quality instruction and excellent customer and staff relationships.
  • Complete all administrative duties accurately and on time, including sign in/sign out, safety checks, accident incident reports, and ensure communication with Supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children.
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate/CPR B, (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol).
  • HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development.
  • Educational background in history and/or museum studies considered an asset.
  • Experience working or volunteering in historic houses, museums, galleries and/or outdoor nature programs considered an asset.
  • Criminal Record Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $17.70 - $21.08
Hours of Work: Up to 40 hours
