About this opportunity:

This role supports the Chief Engineer and utility systems on the SeaRose FPSO, similar to how Marine Technologists support the Marine department. The candidate will participate in risk assessments, assist with troubleshooting, and provide input on modifications, maintenance activities, and operational procedures to ensure safe and efficient offshore work plans.

As the marine and utilities engineering subject matter expert for the onshore Production Team, the candidate will review and approve Non-Standard Isolation Risk Assessments for marine and tank systems and provide support to the Subsea Marine and IMR teams as needed. This includes addressing issues on contracted vessels, such as supply vessels, shuttle tankers, ROV vessels, and other on-hire vessels.

This position is located at our St. John, NL office.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide operational oversight of Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs), tankers, and Dedicated Field Support Vessel builds, ensuring implementation of best practices and marine engineering standards.

  • Support vessel evaluations, specifications, and interface with Transport Canada and Terra Nova Joint Venture as needed for marine and utility operations.

  • Maintain and review marine engineering documentation for vessel systems.

  • Liaise with the onshore Production team to provide technical support and guidance.

  • Participate in and approve Non-Standard Isolation Risk Assessments (NIRAs), Non-Standard Operations Risk Assessments (NOPRAs), and Abnormal or Non-Routine Work Situations (ANRAS) for marine and vessel systems.

  • Complete competency assessments for SeaRose Utility Systems.

  • Participate in Marine Accident Hazard Reviews, Regional Response Management Team activities, and Safety Critical Element (SCE) reviews to support safe operations.

  • Support onshore Maintenance and Integrity teams with safety-critical performance reviews, maintenance strategies, and operational risk mitigation.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Diploma in Marine Engineering is required

  • First Class Engineer, Mortorship (1CM) (preferred) or Second Class Engineer, Mortorship (1CM).

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience and 5 - 10 years as a Chief Engineer or senior officer on board an OSV, tanker, FPSO or construction vessel (asset).

  • Minimum of 10 years of sea time.

  • Knowledge of FPSO marine and utility systems, marine regulations and local regulatory framework.

  • Experience in risk assessments for complex systems

This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing.

You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
