About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Engineering, the Staff Facility Engineer will provide technical support to the Field Facilities Engineering teams across Oilsands, Lloydminster Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil. This role will facilitate change using Cenovus’s Management of Change (MOC) process to safely manage facility modifications. The Staff Facility Engineer with be responsible for overseeing the creation of engineering work packages, providing guidance to internal teams and external engineering firms throughout design and equipment selection.
What you’ll do:
Perform designs for facility modifications, mechanical changes, and equipment installations in accordance with applicable specifications, codes, regulations, and the Cenovus PPMP, ensuring solutions are fit-for-purpose.
Lead upfront project development, including scoping, design basis, execution planning, cost and schedule development, and support feasibility/FEED activities.
Generate engineering work packages by creating and modifying engineering documents internally or overseeing the development of packages through third party engineering firms.
Provide construction-phase support, including constructability reviews, field change notices, and pre-startup safety reviews ensuring work aligns with corporate integrity programs (Pressure Equipment, Pipeline), including EPE and hot tap approvals.
Lead MOC processes from initiation through closeout, including EI submissions, PHA facilitation, risk assessments, and implementation of mitigation actions.
Manage project controls for assigned work, including cost estimates, schedules, forecasting, risk management, reporting, coordinate procurement and fabrication of equipment and long-lead materials.
Engage and align stakeholders to project objectives, supporting teams with constructability input, cost estimates, and proposal development to secure project approvals.
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada.
A member in good standing or eligible for registration with APEGA or APEGS.
Minimum 12 years of experience with knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards such as CSA, API and ASME.
