About this opportunity:

As a Senior Maintenance Scheduler, you will play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our refinery assets. Working closely with Maintenance, Operations, and Project teams, you will develop and optimize weekly, six-week, and long-term maintenance schedules to ensure work is effectively planned and executed.

You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of our Maintenance Work Management Process by leveraging maintenance performance data, key performance indicators, and scheduling best practices to improve execution and asset reliability. Using ERP and scheduling systems as your primary tools, you will help ensure the right work is completed at the right time, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead maintenance scheduling by developing and managing weekly, six-week, and 90-day look-ahead schedules, balancing safety, risk, resources, operational priorities, and equipment availability.
  • Champion safety and compliance by incorporating risk assessments, Control of Work requirements, Life Saving Rules, COIMS requirements, and hazard mitigation into maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Support Process Safety by ensuring Safety Critical Element preventive maintenance activities are scheduled and completed in accordance with established performance standards.
  • Manage maintenance work orders and backlog by collaborating with Maintenance Supervisors, Planners, Operations, and Engineering to prioritize work and minimize operational interruptions.
  • Drive equipment reliability by ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance strategies are effectively executed and by participating in equipment history reviews, bad-actor identification, and maintenance strategy improvements.
  • Lead Maintenance Work Management Process (MWMP) performance by monitoring KPIs, developing performance reporting, leading schedule-related meetings, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate resources and materials by working with Purchasing, Warehouse, contractors, and Maintenance Planners to ensure required materials, spare parts, services, and work packages are available for scheduled work.
  • Provide operational support and leadership coverage by assisting Maintenance Planners with work packages, supporting Maintenance Supervisors as required, and participating in scheduled on-call and Emergency Response Plan activities.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary education in a maintenance-related discipline, such as Engineering Technology, or a Journeyperson trade certification, preferably Instrumentation, Electrical, or Millwright.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in asset maintenance within the energy industry, including 3+ years in maintenance planning, coordination, and/or scheduling for a multi-trade work group.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies, work management processes, planning, scheduling, backlog management, and KPI performance within an oil and gas environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP/ERP systems, maintenance scheduling applications such as GWOS, Primavera, or Prometheus, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, regulations, and industry practices, including pressure and rotating equipment, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and process operations.
  • Experience in a multi-functional maintenance or technical organization; professional certification in Maintenance Planning, Asset Management, RCM, or CMRP is considered an asset.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.


For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
