About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, H&S Foster Creek, the Senior Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for advancing the organization's goal of eliminating injuries and delivering top quartile performance across the business. In addition, this position will facilitate the implementation of leading practice H&S programs throughout field operations. The Senior Advisor will thrive in a collaborative, solutions focused setting to ensure excellence is achieved.

Work Environment:

FOSTER CREEK

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day

  • Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities

  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations

  • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton

What you’ll do:

  • Possesses strong Health & Safety management system technical knowledge

  • Requires detailed knowledge of all CVE H&S standards, processes, and procedures

  • Interact and directly support with the Field Operations leadership teams

  • Liaison with Regulatory agencies as requires such as Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)

  • Provide direct support to Cenovus functions regarding the interpretation of applicable OHS Legislation, Industry standards & practices, internal Management System Standards, Cenovus H&S program components and worker training requirements

  • Provide annual support to Cenovus functions with their development of H&S management plans and business plan goals, objectives, and valid critical metrics

  • Respond to requests for H&S support from field based operational teams and/or functional leaders

  • Participate in risk management activities such as hazard and risk assessments, risk mitigation plan development / review, and audits & inspections

  • Participate as H&S representative on project teams and committees as required

  • Active involvement in incident investigation to prevent reoccurrence

  • Understand the capabilities and functionality of H&S systems including Intelex, ISNetworld, Power BI, TapRoot, and SharePoint

  • Oversight and guidance of Health and Safety technicians

Who you are:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • 8+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, specializing in the H&S Occupation

  • Certified Safety Professional or Canadian Registered Safety Professional preferred

  • Major project, Well Delivery, SAGD Operations, and Safety Management systems development/understanding experience is crucial

  • Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in H&S, including proven experience in driving industry leadership in Health & Safety performance and working with various leadership levels within the organization to achieve desirable outcomes

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
