About this opportunity:

Cenovus is currently looking for a Senior Auditor, SOX IT, based in our Calgary office.

The Senior Auditor (IT) will assist with the planning and execution of the annual SOX ITGC program, with particular focus on the IT general controls (ITGC) related to the SAP environment. The incumbent will also be required to participate in a number of IT/Cyber internal audit engagements as part of the annual Internal Audit plan.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead end to end walkthroughs to identify risks, control gaps, and SOX process improvement opportunities

  • Design, implement, and complete testing of the design and operating effectiveness of SOX IT controls that include general IT, application, infrastructure, and interface controls

  • Improve SOX documentation and work papers (i.e., work with process owners to refine risk control matrix, improve process flows, refine / develop test procedures, propose control language and associated risks etc.)

  • Assist in evaluation of new processes, IT policies and systems to determine relevance to and impact on the SOX IT program, including assessing design of controls based on identified risks

  • Implement audit findings, and develop and coordinate remediation activities

  • Assess the impact of IT controls on business and finance processes

  • Interact with the external auditors, respond to various requests, and facilitate and coordinate communications between IT process owners and the auditors

  • Assist the Snr. Specialist with conducting planning and fieldwork for IT/Cyber engagements included on the annual Internal Audit plan

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or an organization dedicated to IT/cyber audit activities

  • Undergraduate Degree with CISA designation

  • In-depth understanding of SOX ITGC auditing and control practices, and strong analytical skills

  • Excellent understanding of SOX IT control auditing for the SAP ECC, S/4, GRC, BW, HANA and Firefighters controls

  • Strong understanding of IT control auditing for Oracle, MS SQL, Windows AD and Linux systems and infrastructure

  • Ability to think strategically to identify practical ways to improve processes and controls

  • Strong commitment to professional and service delivery excellence, together with proven ability to consistently produce high-quality deliverables and meet expectations within a deadline-oriented environment

  • Demonstrated skill at building and maintaining effective relationships by collaborating effectively within a diverse team, with stakeholders, and across functions

  • Strong familiarity with the AuditBoard software
