We are hiring for an Electrical Engineering Student within our Engineering team at Horizon supporting our Upgrading and Utilities unit. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of Electrical engineering principals and gain valuable hands-on experience by supporting our engineering and operations teams for our world-class mining operations.  This opportunity will allow you to gain insight into how the Oil and Gas industry operates.   • Job location: Fort McMurray, AB - Horizon Oil Sands
  • Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours/days (Monday - Thursday)
  • Term lengths: 8 months
  • Term starts: September 2026
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with the electrical discipline lead engineer and multidisciplinary teams to support operations
  • Utilize your hands-on electrical engineering aptitude and experience to solve engineering problems
  • Review and update P&IDs under the supervision of a P.Eng
  • Become familiar with and utilize instrumentation and control and/or electrical standards and specifications
  • Perform site inspections and information gathering as required

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or within one year of graduation
  • Strong electrical/instrumentation & controls aptitude is an asset
  • Solid computer/IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
