Job Summary:

The Advisor, Workforce Planning & Position Management is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of organizational positions at CN.

Major Responsibilities:

 Position Management

·       Manage the process for creating new positions within the organization, ensuring each position aligns with strategic business goals and operational needs

·       Maintain accurate and up-to-date position data in the HR information system, ensuring consistency and integrity of position records across departments

·       Own, maintain and adjust organization charts in HR information system

·       Ensure position-related data is compliant with internal policies and external regulations

·       Collaborate with Business HR / HR Management & Program Delivery and business leaders to prepare job descriptions for new or changing roles

·       Coordinate with Compensation Delivery for roles that need to be presented at the Job Evaluation Committee and for classification within the Job Architecture framework

 Workforce Planning

·       Collaborate with Business HR and Financial Planning to understand the purpose and needs behind new positions (replacements, additions, restructuring, etc.), and ensure alignment on headcount targets, costs, and forecasts

·       Monitor and document the approval process (including contractual and temporary positions), attending governance sessions as required

·       Ensure that appropriate and accurate reports and dashboards are made available to leaders to view current headcount (active, inactive), targets, and recruitment pipeline by quarter

·       Analyze workforce data, produce trend analysis, and ensure the organizational structure is in line with industry standards

Requirements:

Education / Certification / Experience

 ·       Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

 ·       3+ years of experience in workforce planning, position management, or human resources management.

 o   Proven experience with HRIS systems (e.g., SuccessFactors) and workforce planning tools.

 o   Understanding of organizational design, job evaluation, and position management processes.

 o   Certification in workforce planning (e.g., WCIP), human resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR), or related fields*

 o   Communicate effectively in English and in French (written & oral)*

* Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

Demonstrates a strong Digital Mindset & HR Technology Proficiency to effectively utilize modern tools and systems in HR operations.
