Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Master’s degree in nursing/management or relevant health discipline required
• Current Registration with College of Nurses of Ontario required
• Completion of Leadership/Management Course required
• Lean/Six Sigma Certification (or Quality Improvement Certification/Degree) required
• Project Management experience preferred
• Risk Management certification preferred
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a role in education/professional practice, patient safety, quality improvement, risk management required
• Five (5) years clinical experience in a hospital setting. required
• Proficiency using most up to date Microsoft Office suite required
• Knowledge leader with current organizational experience in evidence-based practice, patient safety, quality, risk management and project management required
• Ability and experience with collaboration and support with Chief of Staff and Medical Affairs required
• Ability to apply current quality and risk (HIROC) tools directly related to quality improvement, accreditation, risk management, patient safety, professional practice and change management required
• Knowledge of adult learning principles required
• Knowledge of applicable legislation required
• Strategic, systems level thinking required
• Collaboration building and group facilitation skills required
• Project Management and Facilitation skills required
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely with a variety of professionals required
• Understanding of working with Regulated and Un-Regulated care providers required
• Analytical skills required
• Ability to review, analyze and interpret health records for quality review required
• Time management and accurate prioritization in face of multiple competing urgent priorities required
Director of Professional Practice, Quality and Risk Management

• All management positions require strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills, as well as extensive clinical experience
• Support the team in HIROC risk management strategies with insurance claims and internal and external risk processes to ensure patient safety
• Support the team in maintaining RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) designation with the implementation and sustainability of evidence-based best practice
• Work in collaboration with patient experience and Chief of Staff for quality-of-care reviews and the investigation and management of patient complaints
• Promotes and facilitates the use of systems that ensure patient needs are being met, and that the provision of patient care is consistent with the goals, objectives and standards of the programs aligned to the strategic goals and priorities
• Facilitates and champions an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to problem solving and decision making by the patient care team around program and patient centred care goals in collaboration with medical affairs as required
• Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and continuously improve upon a comprehensive and integrated organizational patient safety, quality, and evidence-based best practice program at BWH in collaboration with all interprofessional team members, including medical staff
• Monitor organizational and program specific quality scorecards, assist with setting and achieving targets, and help create action plans to affect positive change
• Provide leadership across the organization to implement the necessary frameworks and tools to support an effective culture of safety that includes quality improvement, patient safety and clinical practice at all times ensuring BWH is in line with provincial or national directions in areas of professional practice, quality and patient safety.
• Support the organization’s Quality and Patient Safety plan, Quality Improvement Plan, Accreditation, and Quality of Care reviews
• Oversee the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Program
• Manage the Post-Secondary Student Relations Program
• Other related duties as assigned
