Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program required
• Current NRP Certification required
• Current BCLS Certification required
• Current ACLS Certification required
• Current PALS Certification required
• Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists required
• Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
• Minimum 2-5 years experience working as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in Acute Hospital setting required
• Experience with Oracle (Cerner) preferred
• Experience with support of student and new hire onboarding, including developing and organizing clinical rotations, preparing schedules, orienting students to the hospital, and coordinating external clinical placements preferred
• Leadership experience preferred
• French Language proficiency preferred
• Respiratory therapeutic service including: all respiratory therapy services to neonatal, paediatric and adult patients as needed; assist with inpatient and outpatient bronchoscopies; Arterial line insertions and intubations; Ensure quality control in the Pulmonary Function Lab on Mondays and as needed
• Human Resource Accountabilities including: Support student and new hire onboarding including developing and organizing clinical rotations, preparing schedules, orienting students to the hospital and coordinating external clinical placements; Support orientation for new RN and RPN staff
• Quality Management and Safety Accountabilities including: Maintain, review, and develop departmental policies and procedures; Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies, equipment, and clinical procedures; Ensure quality control and conduct audits related to billing, documentation, and infection control; Coordinate product and equipment evaluations; Lead and monitor departmental improvement initiatives; Maintain current WHMIS/MSDS documentation for the department; Conduct monthly departmental inspections; Organize and support staff training for new procedures and equipment; Conduct monthly rounds at the CEEH site.
• Leadership Accountabilities including: Provide leadership and delegation to departmental staff; participate in and/or lead departmental or multidisciplinary committees and meetings; Maintain awareness of legislation, regulatory updates, and CRTO practice standards; Participate in LEAN and quality-improvement activities; Assist in monitoring staff education, competencies and in-service participation
• Resource Utilization duties including: Monitor workload entries in Oracle; assist with outpatient billing reviews and monitor physician payments with finance; Support staffing level management; assist the manager with preparing work schedules; contribute to capital planning and budgeting and operating budget for the department; manage respiratory therapy equipment including procurement and maintenance coordination; manage equipment through Ormed and maintain SAP inventory records
• Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
• Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students
• Other related duties as assigned
