Professional Intern - Business Analyst - Canada-West Assurance
Full-Time, TERM Summer Internship Position
Start date: May (Flexible), End Date: End of August
Overview:
Canada West Assurance (CWA), a division of Birchwood, is looking for a detail-oriented Professional Intern to join their team for summer 2026, with the opportunity to move part-time in the Fall term. CWA is a comprehensive provider of aftermarket insurance and protection programs for vehicles. In this role, the Business Analyst Intern will support risk management initiatives and conduct financial data analysis of business metrics within CWA, gaining hands-on experience in data-driven decision-making, financial analysis, and business strategy. The position also provides mentorship at CWA and participation in Birchwood’s intern program, offering opportunities to network and connect with interns and leaders across the broader organization throughout the summer.
Project Opportunities:
• Financial Sales Reporting and Analysis
• Support CWA risk management initiatives
• Facilitate value-based metrics that support CWA’s current growth strategies
• Assemble, analyze, and interpret unique data sets to add value to CWA’s Finance programs
• Incentivize internal, group-wide Finance & Insurance (F&I) growth through strategic contests
• Conduct monthly database investigations to ensure correct fields are being used
• Update tools such as the Rate and Reserve tool to maximize earnings when partnering with banks
• Participate in and prepare for Group and Dealership Performance Meetings
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Business Analytics, or Supply Chain Management
• Ability to analyze data and identify trends that result in relevant recommendations
• Experience in business analytics preferred, but not required
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
• High attention to detail, with proven time management and organizational skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and other applications
• Experience with querying data and a working knowledge of Power BI considered an asset, but not required
• Valid driver’s license
