Salary Range
$62,609.62 - $70,814.71 annually plus $58.07 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Fort Nelson, $47.18 for Mackenzie, $54.44 for Valemount.

Job Summary

The Team

At the Prince George Fire Centre, you'll join a dynamic and established team of diverse individuals dedicated to working together towards a common goal of wildfire management and safety. Our team comprises both Unit crews, made up of 22 people, and Initial Attack crews, made up of 4 people. As a part of this team, you'll collaborate with professionals in wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery from across the province. The Fire Crew leader plays a critical role in executing fire suppression and hazard plans, ensuring crews are effectively mobilized in incident response. The Role

In this role, you'll lead crews on the fireline and in day-to-day fieldwork around their communities, playing a vital part in keeping these communities safe and resilient. Your work in wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery will have a direct impact across the province. Candidates will find excitement in this opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment, where their efforts contribute to the well-being of British Columbia's citizens.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Credentials:

• Grade 12 or equivalent; OR
• An equivalent combination of training and education may be considered; AND
• 2 seasons forest fire related experience; AND
• Intermediate First Aid ticket and Transportation Endorsement; AND
• Successful completion of New Recruit Boot Camp or Agency Equivalent; AND
• Successfully complete annual fitness standard testing; AND
• Maintain personal weights standards as required for crew type throughout the year; AND
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Preference may be given to candidates with a combination of, or all, the following:
• Attended BC Wildfire Provincial Crew Leader training or agency equivalent.
• Prior Supervisory experience.
• Prior Fireline Supervisory experience.
• Incident Commander 5 certification or higher as per the Incident Command System.
• Previous BC Wildfire Crew Leader experience such as a temporary assignment as a Crew Leader
• Single Resource Leader 1 certification or higher.
• Higher education in Resource Management or related field.
• Experience delivering education or training to adult audiences.
• Qualified Faller Assessor, Qualified Faller Trainer, Certified Faller or Faller in Training, or industry equivalent.

• To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures.

• To take in-house training and certification as required.
• To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
• To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat, and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions.
• To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
• To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.
• To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned.
• To obtain and maintain certification and training for crew positions to meet operational requirements.

About this Position

This position is posted for the following Fire Centres: Cariboo, Coastal, Kamloops, Northwest, Prince George, and Southeast.
This posting is to establish an eligibility list for each zone within the Prince George Fire Centre.
These positions can be worked from the following communities: Prince George, Valemount, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Fort Nelson.
The recruitment process for this competition may take place virtually.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) is required.
Fort Nelson has seasonal employer-provided housing from April to October.
